Fishing Rockport Reservoir: what to know

Rockport is the state-park reservoir on the Weber above Wanship, 45 minutes from Salt Lake, with ramps, campgrounds, and easy shore access. Rainbows and browns, smallmouth bass, and perch, in a windy valley the sailors like.

Ice-out in April is good for trout from shore; smallmouth pick up in May and June along the rocks; summer is trolling and early bass; fall trout again near the inlet. Ice fishing for perch and rainbows is steady through the winter.

Trout: PowerBait or worms from shore, pop gear trolled 15–25 feet. Smallmouth: tubes and plastics on the rocky east shore. Perch through the ice on small jigs. Standard limits.
